Best ContentHooks (MinoAI) Alternatives in 2026 (Free & Paid)

Creators who get good at short-form rarely get there on the first take. They make a video, read what went wrong, remake it, and read it again. The second read is where the learning happens, and it is the read most tools are not built for.

That is one honest reason people look for ContentHooks alternatives. ContentHooks now runs as MinoAI, a strategy, scripting and video-review assistant, and it is a real product with a real point of view. This page compares five other real options on one narrow question: when you remake a video, does the tool tell you whether version two actually improved on version one? Some of these tools are genuinely free to start, and we say which. We build one of them, so treat our description as interested and every fact as checkable. Every competitor fact below was read from the vendor’s own public pages on 11 October 2026. Prices move, so check before you buy.

What ContentHooks (MinoAI) does well

Credit first. We read the ContentHooks site today, and it now presents itself as MinoAI by Content Academy. It says it draws on insights from more than 2,000 viral videos and over 370 hours of creator coaching to build your content strategy, write scripts and review your videos. It plans your next seven videos, generates ideas from your own material, and keeps a reference library of viral hooks.

That coaching lineage is the real strength. MinoAI is shaped like a mentor: it helps you decide what to make, write it, and get feedback on it. The page does not list supported platforms (testimonials mention TikTok and Reels), and it does not show prices or a trial. After you click start, it says, you choose a MinoAI subscription.

What the page does not advertise is the step after a remake. One testimonial describes a creator who remade the same video twenty times, which is exactly the habit that works. But version history, re-analyzing a revised cut against the earlier one, or tracking how one idea improved across takes are not listed as features. That is a scope choice, not a flaw. We compared the two products before on other axes: format classes in our ContentHooks alternative, and niche trends in Blossom vs ContentHooks. This page is about the remake.

Why the remake is where the learning is

A single review tells you what is wrong with one video. It cannot tell you whether you fixed it. If you remake the video and run it again, a tool with no memory treats version two as a stranger and hands back a fresh list. You are left comparing two unrelated reports by eye.

That hides the two things you most need to see:

  • Did the fix land? You changed the opening. Did the hook actually get stronger, or did the re-cut just get shorter?
  • Did the fix cost something? Tightening the setup can starve the payoff of context. Without a memory of version one, that shows up as a new complaint, not as the price of your last edit.

We made the long version of this argument in how to know if your content is actually improving. So for each option below we asked three things:

  1. Can I check my own video, not just someone else’s?
  2. Does it keep a record of what it said about earlier versions?
  3. Does the next check compare against the last one, or start from zero?

One caveat covers every tool here, ours included. An analysis reads the content. It cannot know your future views, and nothing can promise a video will travel. Our reasoning is in no tool can guarantee a viral video.

1. Blossom, for knowing whether the remake actually improved

This is ours. Blossom analyzes any public Instagram Reel or TikTok, or a draft you upload before posting. To ground this section in what the product returns today, we opened one video from our library through Blossom’s own AI-client connection on 11 October 2026: an 18-second TikTok tutorial on filming talking-to-camera content, with roughly 300,000 views. Leaving out the creator, the caption and the footage, the breakdown held:

  • A named format and hook. It classed as an Educational Tutorial with an Informational opening, and its promise (teaching how to shoot social-first content) was marked as clear and delivered.
  • Seven named techniques, each with a time range, a plain reason it works and a rating for how well this video executed it. The split-screen demonstration, the instructor in one frame and the filming setup in the other, rated highest.
  • The timing. About three seconds of hook, three of setup, and twelve of payoff.
  • One named weakness with a fix. The background audio is subtle and forgettable, and the fix is a more distinctive track that sits under the voice without fighting it.

That weakness list is what versioning works from. Analyze a draft, then analyze the remake as a new version of the same piece of content. The second analysis is compared against the first. It reports how the scores moved, which earlier weaknesses you fixed, which you only partly fixed, which are still open, and whether the edit introduced something new.

Imagine that tutorial as your own first take (this part is illustrative, not a run we did). You swap in a more distinctive track and cut a second of setup. A fresh report would hand you a new list to compare by eye. The version pass tells you the audio note is resolved, and flags it if the shorter setup now makes the demonstration land before the viewer knows what problem it solves.

Now the honest part:

  • No free tier. Creator, Pro and Agency start with a 7-day trial that asks for a card, and Starter is billed from day one.
  • Versioning is not on every plan. Starter is $9.99 a month and Creator $39, but version comparison starts at Pro, $99 a month, and continues on Agency at $299. If versioning is why you would switch, $99 is the real price.
  • No YouTube Shorts. We cover Instagram and TikTok only.
  • Scripts, not footage. We write scripts from videos that already worked in your niche, and we do not generate video.
  • No coaching program. MinoAI comes out of a creator-coaching business. We are software, and if what you want is a mentor’s judgment on your strategy, that is a real difference.

2. HookMafia, the most generous free hook check

HookMafia describes itself as a creator-intelligence and scripting suite for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. It scores hooks from 0 to 100 before you film, writes scene-by-scene scripts, researches winning videos in a niche, and offers a content calendar and an MCP server and API for AI clients.

The Free plan gives 25 credits once, with the hook generator, hook score analyzer and caption tool. Paid plans are Creator at $19 a month, Pro at $39 and Agency at $99. Its agent can score three angles side by side, which compares alternatives rather than successive versions; saving drafts or re-scoring an edited hook against its earlier score is not advertised. We covered it on this exact axis in our HookMafia alternative.

3. Brika, free creator tracking with a weekly hook check

Brika is a creator analytics tool, currently in beta, for tracking creators and spotting viral content. The Free plan follows three Instagram creators with seven days of history, two AI Reel analyses and two hook checks a week, a weekly plan with three ideas, and early access to its MCP connection for Claude and ChatGPT. Paid plans add TikTok: Plus at $9 a month, Growth $17, Pro $39 and Agency $99.

Version history or tracking one video across revisions is not advertised. If you mostly want to watch what other creators post and check a couple of your own Reels a week for free, Brika is the cheapest serious place to start.

ViralVid Analyzer bills itself as a free AI viral video analyzer. Paste one public link and it returns a creator pack: structure analysis, a hook score, retention signals, three script versions, a shot-by-shot storyboard, plus title and tag ideas. It works with YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, Shorts and Vimeo, says no card is needed to start, and lists no paid plan prices on the homepage.

It does not advertise comparing versions of the same video. There is an export history tab, but the page does not describe it further, so we will not guess. For one free, broad read of a single link, especially on YouTube or Shorts, it is a reasonable first stop.

5. CreatorScope, pay per check with no subscription

CreatorScope analyzes Instagram Reels and TikTok frame by frame, scores the hook out of 10 with reasons, predicts where viewers drop, and suggests what to post next. You give it a handle; no login or account connection needed. Pricing is one-time: €2.49 for one video, €8.49 for up to ten, €21.49 for up to fifty. There is no free tier.

Its “your Reels compared” view compares different Reels from the same account, which is useful, but tracking changes to the same video over time is not advertised. If you post rarely and want a paid check now and then without a subscription, it is the cheapest paid option here.

Picking by what you actually do

  • You want a mentor more than a tool. Stay with MinoAI. The coaching lineage is the point, and none of the options here replaces it.
  • You remake videos and want proof the remake is better. Blossom on Pro, at $99 a month. It is the only option here that advertises comparing a new version against the earlier one.
  • Your budget is zero. Start with Brika’s free plan if you are on Instagram, or ViralVid Analyzer if you need YouTube or Shorts. HookMafia’s free credits are good for scoring a handful of hooks.
  • You need YouTube Shorts. HookMafia or ViralVid Analyzer. We do not cover Shorts.
  • You post a few times a month. CreatorScope’s pay-per-check pricing will cost less than any subscription, including ours.

Can you use MinoAI and Blossom together?

Yes, and the split is natural. MinoAI helps you decide what to make and how to say it. Blossom reads the finished cut, files it against the formats and hooks in our library, and, on Pro, tells you whether your next take moved the weak spots. Plenty of creators keep a planning tool and an analysis tool side by side.

Quick answers

Is ContentHooks the same as MinoAI? The contenthooks.ai site now presents the product as MinoAI by Content Academy, as of 11 October 2026.

Is there a free ContentHooks alternative? Yes. Brika has a free plan, ViralVid Analyzer is free to start with no card, and HookMafia gives 25 free credits once. Blossom is not free.

Which alternative tracks improvement across versions? Of the tools on this page, only Blossom advertises it, on the Pro and Agency plans.

A last honest note

If you never remake a video, the version history this page argues for is worth nothing to you, and a cheaper or free tool above will serve you fine. If you do remake, and the best creators usually do, the second analysis is the one that tells you whether you are getting better. Start a Blossom trial, run your first take and then your remake as version two, or read the FAQ first to see where each capability sits by plan.
