6 Best Shortimize Alternatives in 2026 (Free & Paid)
Six real Shortimize alternatives, free and paid, compared on price, platforms, and whether they help you plan the next video. Checked 16 September 2026.
A tracker tells you, every hour, which videos are winning. It does not tell you what you are filming on Thursday. For a lot of teams that second question is the one that decides the month, and it is the one people are really asking when they search for Shortimize alternatives.
Here is the short answer. If you want the tracking job for less money, Metricool, Viraly and Augur all let you start at zero, and they do parts of it well. If you want to turn what you learn into a plan, with dates, scripts and a place for the work to move from idea to finished cut, you need a tool with a planning surface, and only some of the six below have one.
We build one of these tools, so treat our description as interested and every fact on the page as checkable. Everything here was read from each vendor’s own public pages on 16 September 2026. Prices move, so check before you buy.
What Shortimize actually does well
Credit first, because Shortimize is a serious product. We read Shortimize’s own site and pricing page today. It tracks short-form performance from any account, including ones you do not own, across YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels and Facebook. It advertises unlimited account tracking on every plan, outlier detection for view spikes, Slack and Discord notifications, multi-seat access, and automated creator payments, which is a genuinely useful feature for app founders and agencies paying creators per result.
Pricing starts at $99 a month for Launch (1,000 tracked videos, 24-hour refresh, one seat), then $249 for Scale (5,000 videos, 12-hour refresh, three seats), then a custom Enterprise tier with unlimited storage and seats. API, webhooks and MCP access are add-ons on the first two tiers and included on Enterprise. There is a 7-day free trial, and a set of free AI tools on the site such as caption and reel idea generators.
What Shortimize does not advertise is anything after the numbers arrive. No content calendar, no scheduled plan of what to make next, no script written from a winning video, and no board that carries a piece of content from brief to finished cut. That is a scope decision, not a flaw. A tracker’s job is to watch. We covered two other gaps in earlier pieces: the explanation behind a spike in our Shortimize alternative, and the retention side in Blossom vs Shortimize. This page is about the planning gap.
Why the plan is where tracking pays off
Tracking produces a list of outliers. On Monday the list says a certain kind of video is running hot in your niche. Everyone on the team agrees. By the next Monday, nobody can say whether you made one, because the insight lived in a dashboard and the work lived in a group chat.
That decay is the most common way good data goes to waste. An outlier is only worth something once it becomes a dated idea, a script, a shoot and a cut, and each of those handoffs is a place for it to die. We wrote about the version that survives real life in the content calendar that survives, and about reviewing whether the plan actually shipped in the thirty-minute monthly audit.
So rank the six below on two questions: what does it do instead of Shortimize, and is there somewhere for the next video to live once you have decided to make it?
The six alternatives
1. Blossom, if you want the analysis and the plan in one place
This is ours. Blossom analyzes any public Instagram or TikTok video, including competitors’ videos, and tells you what it is doing: the named format, a hook score from 1 to 10 with the reasoning, a timestamped map of where attention builds and drops, and the techniques it uses. That is the part a tracker leaves out, and it is also what makes the plan better, because you are planning around a shape you can repeat rather than a view count.
The part this post is about comes after the analysis.
- The calendar holds ideas on specific days before anything is filmed, and it is available on every plan. An item moves from idea to ready to published, with an archive exit so a killed concept leaves a trace. Two reminders fire before each planned item, one the day before and one a few hours ahead, and any item can be sent to Google Calendar or Apple Calendar.
- From a calendar idea you can write a script grounded in videos that already worked in your niche, and the link between the idea and its script stays on the item.
- On the Agency plan, a production board picks the work up from there. Columns run from script through raw material, edit and review to done, each with a craft role, so the strategist, the creator and the editor look at the same card from their own end. Every delivered cut is kept as a numbered version.
Here is a real snapshot of our own board today, not a mockup. Thirteen cards: four done, seven in review, two still at script. One finished card holds three references, two raw files and nine delivered cuts, and the ninth is the one that shipped. Most of the cards in review hold a single raw file and no cut yet. A tracker would show all thirteen as the same thing, a video that does or does not exist. The board shows which ones are one edit away and which ones are stuck.
Our three honest gaps apply here. There is no free tier, and the 7-day trial asks for a card. There is no YouTube Shorts coverage, only Instagram and TikTok. And Blossom writes scripts and organizes the footage you shoot; it does not generate footage. It is also not an account tracker: there is no hourly refresh across hundreds of handles and no Slack alert when a video spikes. If that feed is your core job, Shortimize or Augur fits it better.
2. Metricool, if you want a free planner with light competitor tracking
Metricool is a scheduling and analytics suite, and its planner is the most mature calendar on this list for getting posts out the door. The free plan is real: one brand, up to 20 scheduled posts a month, five competitor profiles, 30 days of analytics, an AI assistant and an MCP connection. Starter is listed from $20 a month for up to five brands with unlimited publishing and up to 100 competitors, and Advanced from $53 a month adds team and client management, a post approval system and API access.
For a team that wants to watch competitors and schedule its own posts in one tool, and pay nothing to start, Metricool is a strong answer. What it does not advertise is a per-video breakdown of why a competitor’s video worked, a script written from that evidence, or a production board between the idea and the upload.
3. Viraly, if you want a generous free scheduler
Viraly is a social media management suite. The free plan, with no card, includes three social profiles, scheduling to 11 platforms, a link in bio, two weeks of analytics, content recycling and an MCP server. Paid plans run $19 Influencer, $49 Business, $99 Agency and $249 Enterprise a month. Competitor profiles start on Business (five), rising to 15 on Agency and 30 on Enterprise, and Agency adds a public REST API and webhooks.
If what you actually need from a Shortimize replacement is a cheaper way to plan and publish across many networks, Viraly is one of the most generous free options we found. Per-video analysis, hook scoring and outlier detection are not advertised.
4. Augur, if you want niche monitoring with a free start
Augur is the closest to Shortimize’s watching job, pointed at niches rather than a list of accounts. It advertises custom Niche Hubs monitored across TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, an Outlier Tracker for any creator, on-demand search across any topic, AI analysis of hooks and posting patterns, exports to Excel, CSV, JSON or PDF, and Meta ads intelligence. Trend alerts and a Content Studio for scripts are both marked as coming soon.
It is free to start with one-time credits and one active niche, no card required. Paid tiers are listed at $19 a month as an early-bird Starter price (normally $29) and $59 for Pro. If you want outlier detection including YouTube Shorts at a fraction of Shortimize’s entry price, Augur is the one to test. A content calendar or production board is not advertised.
5. Socialinsider, if the job is benchmarking and client reports
Socialinsider is analytics-first. Plans are $82 Adapt, $124 Optimize and $199 Predict a month, plus custom Enterprise, with a 14-day free trial that does not need a card. Every plan includes cross-network analytics, competitor benchmarking, automated reports, unlimited exports and an MCP connector, with more tracked accounts, history and seats as you go up.
If Shortimize was mostly feeding a report for a manager or a client, Socialinsider does that job with more polish around benchmarks. Planning, scripting and production tracking are not advertised.
6. Viralo, if you want cheap per-video analysis with a small feed
Viralo analyzes individual videos and writes scripts, with a feed of channels you follow. The free plan gives two video analyses a month with no card. Creator is $9 a month (30 analyses, 10 pre-publish reviews, 10 AI scripts, three feed channels), Pro $22 (100 analyses, 10 channels) and Agency $59 (500 analyses, 50 channels, bulk operations), all with a 7-day money-back guarantee and script history.
It is the cheapest paid way on this list to get both a per-video read and a light monitoring feed. A dated content calendar or production board is not advertised on its pricing page.

Note the rows we lose. Metricool, Viraly, Augur and Viralo all let you start at zero, and Metricool and Viraly publish posts on a schedule across far more networks than we cover. If your budget this month is nothing, those are the honest answers and we are not.
Picking by what you actually do
- You need to watch hundreds of accounts by the hour and pay creators. Stay on Shortimize. Nothing else here matches that combination.
- You want outlier detection for less, including YouTube Shorts. Augur.
- You want to schedule and publish your own posts, with some competitor tracking, for free. Metricool or Viraly.
- You report benchmarks to clients or managers. Socialinsider.
- You want a per-video read for under $10 a month. Viralo, or our Starter plan if you also want the calendar.
- You want to know why a video worked, put the next one on a date, script it from real evidence and move it through edit and review with your team. That is the case we make for ourselves.
Can you use Shortimize and Blossom together?
Yes, and for some teams it is the right stack. Shortimize watches the accounts and flags the spike. Blossom explains what the spiking video is doing, and the calendar and board carry your version of it to a finished cut. They are not competing for the same slot.
A last honest note
Tracking tools are built to answer “what happened”. Planning tools are built to answer “what now”. Most teams need both, and the mistake is assuming a better tracker will fix a planning problem. If your outlier list is growing and your output is not, the missing piece is not more data.
For the wider view of the analysis category, including the rows where we lose, read our honest comparison of viral video analysis tools. Our FAQ has the plan limits in full.
If the planning question is the one you actually have, the 7-day trial at signup is the fastest way to check it. Analyze one outlier from your niche, put your version of it on next week’s calendar, and see whether it ships. And yes, it asks for a card.
