6 Best Metricool Alternatives in 2026 (Free & Paid)
Six real Metricool alternatives, free and paid, compared on price, platforms, and whether they name the format a video runs. Checked 15 September 2026.
Most people searching for Metricool alternatives want one of two different things. Some want the same job for less money or with fewer limits: scheduling, analytics, and reports. Others have realised that the job itself was the wrong one, because a dashboard can tell you which post did well and cannot tell you what kind of video it was.
Here is the short answer. If you want cheaper or simpler scheduling, Buffer and Viraly are genuinely free to start and do that job well. If you want to know the shape of the videos that work, so you can make another one on purpose, you need a tool that reads the video itself, and only a few on this list do.
We build one of the six below, so treat our description as interested and every fact on the page as checkable. Everything here was read from each vendor’s own public pages on 15 September 2026. Prices move, so check before you buy.
What Metricool actually does well
Credit first, because Metricool is a strong product at a fair price. Metricool’s own site advertises a planning calendar with scheduling, analytics and performance tracking, competitor analysis, automated reporting, team approvals, a unified inbox, link-in-bio SmartLinks, hashtag tracking, ads management across Google, Facebook and TikTok, and an AI assistant. It publishes to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, X, Twitch, Google Business Profile, Bluesky, Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn.
The free plan is real: one brand, 20 posts a month, five competitor profiles, 30 days of analytics, and it includes the AI assistant and an MCP connection. Paid plans run through Starter and Advanced to a custom tier. Advanced is listed at $53 a month billed annually for up to 15 brands, or $67 billed monthly, and the paid tiers add Looker Studio and API access.
What Metricool does not advertise is anything that looks inside a single video. There is no per-video breakdown, no hook analysis, and no classification of a post by its format or structure. Its analytics work at the level of the channel and the post: reach, interactions, growth, and timing. That is a scope, not a flaw. We covered the hook side of that gap in our earlier Metricool alternative piece, and the retention side in Blossom vs Metricool. This page is about a third gap: the format.
Why the format is the reusable part
When a video works, most of what made it work cannot be repeated. The timing, the sound that happened to be rising, and the lucky first batch of viewers are all gone the next day. The format is different. A recipe demo, a before-and-after, a comedy sketch, or a step-by-step tutorial is a structure you can film again next week with a new topic.
A dashboard that ranks your posts by reach cannot give you that, because two posts with identical numbers can be completely different kinds of video. To learn which structures carry your niche, a tool has to watch the video and put a name on its shape, and it has to use the same name every time so ten videos add up to a pattern. We explained why borrowing a format is fair game, and borrowing the execution is not, in is copying a viral format plagiarism.
So rank the six below on two questions: what does it do instead of Metricool, and does it tell you what kind of video you are looking at?
The six alternatives
1. Blossom, if you want to know which formats work in your niche
This is ours. Blossom analyzes any public Instagram or TikTok video, including ones that are not yours, and classifies it into a named format. The name is a class rather than a sentence of feedback, which means it is the same label every time that shape appears, and you can open it.
Open a format and you see what it is, how many videos in the library share it, how it performs, and the example videos that define it. Some of the largest classes in our library right now are Dance Trend, Recipe Demo, Comedy Sketch, Outfit Showcase, Travel Vlog and Day In The Life, and you can narrow any of them to your own niche. Each format page also says what tends to separate the stronger videos in that shape from the weaker ones. For Recipe Demo, faster pacing and shorter shots show up on the stronger side.
The part we trust most is that the format pages are willing to say when they do not know. The Educational Tutorial class, one of the larger ones, states plainly that the format on its own does not carry a video and that execution decides the outcome. We would rather show you that than invent a formula.
The library sits at 220,000+ analyzed videos, 4,900+ formats, 6,500+ hook patterns, and 21,000+ tactics. Plans start at $9.99 a month, and every plan opens with a 7-day trial.
Now the honest limits. There is no free tier, and the trial asks for a card. We cover Instagram and TikTok and not YouTube Shorts, where Metricool covers eleven networks. We write scripts, not footage. And we are not a multi-network scheduler: Blossom has a content calendar, but if your day is publishing forty posts across ten client accounts, keep Metricool for that and add us for the diagnosis.
2. Buffer, if you want free, simple scheduling
Buffer is the cleanest like-for-like swap if scheduling is the job. The free plan covers up to three channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel and 30 days of analytics history. Essentials is $5 a month per channel and Team is $10 a month per channel, both with unlimited scheduled posts, and Team adds unlimited team members. It publishes to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, Bluesky and Mastodon, and every plan includes an AI assistant.
Paid analytics add what Buffer calls AI-powered observations about your content performance. Per-video format classification or hook scoring is not advertised.
3. Viraly, if you want a free suite with more around it
Viraly is a social media management suite in the same family as Metricool. The free plan needs no card and covers three profiles, scheduling to 11 platforms, one link in bio, two weeks of analytics, content recycling, and an MCP server for AI assistants. Paid plans are $19 Influencer, $49 Business, $99 Agency with a public REST API, and $249 Enterprise with white-label client logins.
It also has idea boards with an AI generator. Per-video breakdowns, format classification and hook scoring are not advertised.
4. Socialinsider, if the job is benchmarking and reporting
Socialinsider is analytics-first rather than scheduling-first. Plans are $82 Adapt, $124 Optimize, and $199 Predict a month, with a 14-day free trial that does not need a card. All plans include cross-network analytics, competitor benchmarking, automated reports and unlimited exports, with more accounts, history and seats as you go up.
Its content analysis is the closest thing to a format view in the scheduler-and-analytics group: the site talks about identifying your best-performing content pillars and replicating them. Pillars are topics you define for your own account, which is useful and different from a named structural class shared across creators. Per-video hook scoring or structure breakdowns are not advertised.
5. Augur, if you need niche monitoring and YouTube Shorts
Augur watches short-form content by niche rather than scheduling your own. It advertises custom niches monitored around the clock across TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, hook detection, retention pattern identification, outlier and momentum tracking, creator deep dives, and Meta ads intelligence. Scripts grounded in performance data are listed under a Content Studio marked coming soon.
It is free to start with a one-time credit allowance and one active niche, no card required, then paid tiers listed at $19 Early Bird, $29 Starter and $59 Pro. If YouTube Shorts is part of your week, Augur covers it and we do not.
6. CreatorScope, if you want a cheap one-off report
CreatorScope is the one tool on this list, besides ours, that advertises format detection, so this is where the format argument is closest. It covers Instagram Reels and TikTok and advertises a hook score from 1 to 10, predicted retention drop-off, format detection, frame-by-frame breakdowns, content pillar identification, and posting strategy recommendations.
Pricing is one-time rather than a subscription: €2.49 for one video, €8.49 for up to ten, and €21.49 for up to fifty, with no connecting accounts. For a creator who wants a read on their own recent posts without committing to a monthly plan, that is a strong offer and cheaper than us. What is not advertised is a browsable library of formats across other creators, or a calendar to plan the next video in.
At a glance
| Tool | From | Free option | Platforms | Names a video’s format |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blossom | $9.99/mo | None, trial needs a card | IG, TikTok | Yes, as a browsable class across creators |
| Buffer | $5/mo per channel | 3 channels, 10 posts each | 11 networks | Not advertised |
| Viraly | $19/mo | 3 profiles, no card | 11 platforms | Not advertised |
| Socialinsider | $82/mo | 14-day trial, no card | Major networks | Content pillars you define |
| Augur | $19/mo | One-time credits, no card | TikTok, Reels, Shorts | Not advertised as named formats |
| CreatorScope | €2.49 one-time | None, pay per report | IG Reels, TikTok | Yes, per report |
Note the column we lose. Buffer, Viraly and Augur all let you start at zero, and CreatorScope costs less than a coffee for one report. If your budget this month is nothing, those are the honest answers and we are not.
Picking by what you actually do
- You like Metricool and just want it cheaper. Buffer if scheduling is all you use, Viraly if you want the free plan to carry analytics and an MCP connection too.
- You need client reports and benchmarks. Socialinsider, or stay on Metricool.
- You need YouTube Shorts. Augur, Buffer, Viraly or Metricool itself. Blossom does not cover it.
- You want a quick read on your own last ten videos without a subscription. CreatorScope.
- You want to know which structures carry your niche, see the videos that define each one, and film the next one on purpose. That is the case we make for ourselves, and it is the only row on the table we would fight for.
A last honest note
Most of the tools here, Metricool included, are built to get content out the door and measure what happened afterwards. That is a real job, and for a lot of teams it is the main one. The gap they leave is earlier: deciding what kind of video to make in the first place. A reach chart describes the outcome. A named format describes the decision.
Plenty of creators run a scheduler and a content analysis tool side by side, and that is a reasonable stack. For the wider view of the analysis category, including the rows where we lose, read our honest comparison of viral video analysis tools. Our FAQ has the plan limits in full.
If the format question is the one you actually have, the 7-day trial at signup is the fastest way to check it. Pick a format in your niche, open the videos that define it, and see whether it changes what you film next. And yes, it asks for a card.
